_Curb Ramp FAQ

How many curb ramps do I need to do my driveway?

Depending on how wide your driveway is, you will typically need between 2 and 5 ramps. Two ramps for a single car driveway, and as many as 5 for double or small triple driveway.

Will my curb ramps be frowned upon by the local municipal authorities?

This will vary from area to area. The city of Saskatoon has actually sent letters to disgruntled residents with bad driveways advertising the curb ramps as a good product. The curb ramps pose no problem to any concerns of the municipal authorities in that they are removeable and do not interfere with water drainage since it can run right underneath the product.

Where can I buy curb ramps?

Since the curb ramp is a relatively new product, it does not have wide spread distribution as of yet. You may contact us for information on the dealer nearest you. It is also an excellent business opportunity for a student, or anyone looking to make some extra cash in their spare time. Call us for information on becoming a distributor of the Curb Ramp.

How do I fasten the curb ramp down?

The curb ramp can be installed in a number of ways. It can simply be laid in the gutter with no anchoring devices, and work just fine. For added stability, they can be glued down, or fastened using standard lag bolts right into the asphalt or concrete. Contact your local hardware store for the best adhesive available in your area.

Will the curb ramp fit any style of sidewalk / gutter?

The curb ramp is made for a certain shape of gutter common in the newer areas of most cities. However, due to its unique design, if it is anchored in place it is equally as effective in any style of driveway.

Is the curb ramp available in different colors?

No. To date Shercom only offers them in the natural black color of the rubber.

_E-Z Riser FAQ

How did you arrive at the load limit rating of 12,000 pounds per pair?

Shercom Industries took the product to an engineering laboratory, in Saskatoon ("Clifton and Associates") where the product underwent rigorous testing. It was placed under hydraulic pressure with increasing weight until the product failed. The pressure at the point of failure was noted, and the process repeated. The same test was done under plus and minus 40 degrees celsius. The research laboratories for Canadian Tire Corp. also conducted similar tests. The end result was the discovery that the E-Z Riser could safely hold 12,000 pounds per pair.

Why is the E-Z Riser so much better than steel ramps?

The answer is simple, the E-Z Riser can not rust, bend, slip, or collapse..., and its recycled!

How many E-Z Riser are on a pallet?

One pallet will nicely hold 40 E-Z Risers, and weigh about 1400 pounds. The dimensions will be approximately 4' X 4' X 4'.

_Parking Curb FAQ

Why is the Shercom Curb only 3 feet long?

The curb was designed this way for 3 reasons:

1. Since two are required per stall, the 3 foot curbs create a natural walkway between them allowing easy passage for pedestrians, wheelchairs, shopping carts and strollers. This is not the case with an 8' curb.

2. The smaller curb is lightweight thus the purchase price is kept to a minimum.

3. Due to their lightweight one person can easily install them, and money is saved on the labor and equipment rental for installation.

How do I install these curbs?

The Shercom Curb can be installed by pinning them into the asphalt / concrete or by gluing them with special adhesive available from Shercom. To pin them in place, you simply drill a small pilot hole through the curb, take a 10" rebar pin and drive it into place.
For each end of gluing, ensure that both surfaces are clean and dry, brush on the Shercom glue, and stick into place. When gluing, be sure to allow at least 24 hrs drying time before using.

Are the curbs available in different colors?

Yes. Shercom curbs are available in any color by request. They are simply painted with an industrial acrylic latex paint. Standard colors are traffic yellow, black, and handicap blue.
